Lue Patterson

Lue Ann Patterson was born in Kershaw County on September 28, 1937 to the late Sam and Annie Patterson. Lue attended the High School of Fashion Industry in New York City where she gained her passion for style and design. She missed her calling, she should have been featured in Better Homes and Gardens. Lue raised two daughters as a single parent. She was strict and tough not only with her children but yours too. She set the standards for us to follow and if we didn*t you paid the price. One of her girlfriends reminded my mother that we were going to go through three stages, her reply was and I*m going to beat their behinds all through it and she did. Lue instilled good work ethics in her children and tried to with others. Sometimes she succeeded and sometimes she didn*t but she never turned her back on you. You could always reach out and still if she could help you, she would. Lue has worked a lot of different jobs in her career, while living in Philadelphia she started as a tailor and a presser, later on she was chef for unwed mothers. In 1960 we relocated back to New York where the family moved to Coney Island. After many years of taking care of her mother, she became the head cook at Roberta Bright Day Care Center in 1972. She retired in 1999. She fullfilled her promise to buy a home in S.C. for her mother. It became her pride and joy. Leaves to mourn: Carolyn Cookie Reed (daughter) Desmond Shakar Edwards (grandson) Sam Patterson (brother), Muniar and Malachi (great grandson), Uncle George Patterson of South Carolina, Aunt Eva of South Carolina, Two foster children Brittany Boggert and Zack Butler, The Chellis Family of Philadelphia, The Patterson Family of Maryland, The Newman Family of South Carolina, The Patterson of South Carolina, The Reed Family of New York, And a host of Relatives and friends. I would like to Thank Gwen Bell for not only being my mother*s caregiver but being and extension of me, a friend to her and a sister to me to the end. Thank you Gwen Bell. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the Doctors, Nurses and Caregivers at Coney Island Hospital for making my mother*s quality of life comfortable. I would like to thank the Davita Renal Center, and the Midwood Ambulette Services for outstanding Service.
